Norma T. Pace was a pioneering American economist whose life reflected both extraordinary achievement and profound personal foundations. The daughter of Italian immigrants, she grew up in East Harlem, where her Catholic education shaped a lifelong commitment to discipline, learning, and character.
In 1974 she became the first woman elected to the board of Sears, Roebuck & Co., later serving as a director for 3M, Engelhard, and Georgia-Pacific. Appointed by President Reagan to chair the Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service, her career was defined as much by ethical leadership as by intellect.
